Concrete, Cabbies and Conservation

25 June 2022

11:00 -13:00

Bloomsbury is famous for leafy squares and the British Museum. But it is home to some remarkable architecture in a huge variety of styles and sizes. On this walk you will encounter an art deco masterpiece built for luxury cars, a concrete modernist structure with an extraordinary story, the 'oldest new building in London', respite care for cabbies and their horses, two centres of learning and an extraordinary hotel. And yes, the leafy square and the British Museum too but not from the usual perspective. Walk starts at Russell Square Tube station and lasts about 90 minutes.
