Join us for the unveiling of NOOMA Studio's winning design for Phoenix Road and the launch of a weekend of festivities!
Designed by NOOMA Studio, the Phoenix Road Performing Gardens envisions a street garden for the people of Somers Town, which facilitates performance, showcases the spirit of the local community, and explores alternative scenarios for the road to be pedestrianised during its weekend-long closure at the end of June. During the weekend you can experience a programme of performative events, establishing spontaneous spaces on Phoenix Road and providing a platform for the local community to perform, meet, and exchange.
At the opening, we'll hear speeches from Rosa Rogina (London Festival of Architecture, Director), Councillor Danny Beales (Camden), Javier Calderon (Somers Town Gallery), Sarah Elie (Future Neighbourhoods 2030) and the Somers Town History Museum.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Arfoud Brothers and there will be a chalk drawing activity in the street for children - or anyone who wants to draw!
