Royal College of Physicians Museum Late: architecture special

01 June 2022

17:30 -20:00

Join us after hours to explore our Grade I listed home, discover the architectural plans and documents behind its design, and for a chance to enjoy a guided architecture tour.

In 1958 architect Denys Lasdun won the commission to build the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) a new home. A home that would act as a visual representation of the RCP’s changing organisation as it became a forward-thinking institution getting involved in improving public health. A building that would also act as a reminder of the institution’s 500-year history with purposefully designed spaces in which to care for its archives, rare books and historic collections.

Explore Lasdun’s unique building with an expert from our archives, heritage library and museum team and discover the history behind the design of this modernist masterpiece through its plans, drawings and construction photos.
