Reviving Bishopsgate: A Building Tour by Fletcher Priest Architects

11 June 2022

11:00 -15:15

Our tour will take visitors behind the scenes of the 300-m long Bishopsgate complex built over Liverpool Street Railway Station platforms in the 1980s and recently refurbished by Fletcher Priest.

By choosing to retrofit, enhancing the surrounding public realm and greening the existing complex, we aimed to tackle the climate crisis, create a more lively ground floor and increase biodiversity on site. This was achieved by reusing 90% of the existing structure and envelope at 135 and 155 Bishopsgate, and by introducing planted terraces and additional seating along Bishopsgate as well as a series of rooftop gardens.

Tours will be held on Saturdays 11 and 25 June, between 11:00-12:15 and 14:00-15:15 and will be led by architects who worked on the project and who will explain how the practice minimised the project’s carbon footprint and actively worked to bring more greenery to this busy urban site.
