Retrofitting London’s buildings is one of the biggest challenges currently facing architecture. It is a vital act in decarbonising the built environment and achieving zero carbon. However how can we ensure the materials used are low embodied carbon and the retrofit process is truly circular?
Re-Fabricate will be hosting two workshop days on waste reuse, natural materials and retrofit. Each day will include a mix of insightful talks/discussions and hands-on making. The workshops will focus on environmental conscious retrofit of existing spaces and be hosted in The Remakery, a co-working and maker’s space in Brixton. Over the course of the two days we will use The Remakery space as a test bed, retrofitting the space itself. Each day is designed to work autonomously, although we would of course love you to sign up for both days.
Day 2 will focus on the assembly of building materials required for retrofit and how we can enable reuse at a component level.
This event is sponsored by the RIBA London.
