When was the last time you got the ‘tingle factor’ when visiting a building? What is it about design that appeals to human nature? Chetwoods is currently exploring the answer to these questions and more by scientifically measuring emotional responses to design.
For one evening only, Chetwoods will be opening its doors to allow London Festival of Architecture attendees to explore a selection of forward-thinking technologies that they are currently using to measure human emotional responses to design. Join them for a drink and they will tell you more.
The technology team, led by Dr. Erika Parn, a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, will be on hand to explain how the different technologies measure eye movement, heart rates and the slightest facial expressions to assess immediate reactions that we ourselves may not even recognise.
An initiative that no other architectural practice is currently undertaking, Chetwoods is exploring the study because it wants to capture wellbeing and identify how to evoke happiness, ensuring people have a positive experience from the buildings they design. Visitors to Chetwoods event will have the opportunity to become part of the industry leading experiment themselves and trial the technology within the studio.
Join Chetwoods on Friday 10th June between 6pm and 9pm at their unique and creatively designed studio in Clerkenwell Green to find out more. No pre-registration or RSVP required. A selection of drinks and light refreshments will be available for all attendees to enjoy.
