Heritage 4.0

24 June 2022

16:00 -19:00

Heritage 5G in conjunction with Newham-based, Hyperactive Developments and Immersive Computing Labs will deliver an intensive workshop for East London young people to gain exposure to using immersive technologies as part of Heritage learning and content creation.

We will run an immersive heritage skills workshop for up to 30 young people (14+) - sourced from local East London secondary schools, and youth clubs to enable them to ACT in the heritage immersive space. Learners will be introduced to using Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Metaverse and Video Game technology to:

• Given insights into career paths and industries and immerse learners into actual local heritage environments;
• Learners gain skills into local history and heritage;
• Working from the metaverse to teach, meet and collaborate with peers.

After the initial “hands-on” immersive workshop, learners will be invited to attend hybrid workshops in our bespoke Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) – using their PCs, phones, tablets or VR head-sets, or in person at selected sites which empower them to further insights on the heritage content and immersive tech to ACT!

These additional workshops will include presentations from heritage specialists; demonstration content for learners to try live and remotely (and share with others) at their own leisure; Q+A sessions with technical and content specialist.
