Join us to discuss how architects can demand climate action! We’ll chat about the design of direct action: ‘Protest Architecture’. After the latest IPCC report, COP26 and Kill the Bill, the need to act is urgent and the stakes high. Now is the time for protests to be rigorously designed and effective, how can architects and designers help demand and create the political change we need?
For LFA 2020, we hosted a series of events to reimagine protests as the pandemic put a pause on activism and architecture. Our Zoomed Out? Open Call invited designs for direct action to fill (photographs of) the streets emptied by Covid - from 'crafty' designs to hold space to 'crazy 'visions to spark debate.
A panel of architects, designers and activists will discuss the submissions as a starting point to reflect on the future of protest architecture: Nick Newman, Kim Sparks and Scott McAulay.
